Lets Play Christmas Shopper Simulator

Its been a while since I made a post here. What can I say life has once again a bit of a nightmare. Fortunately everyone is OK but we really could do with some calmer months ahead.

Anyway today I present you with too new videos from a game released by the video game retailer GAME.

Init you play a Christmas shopper that receives a list of tasks from a payphone and you have to fight through the crowds and Christmas decorations to get what you need in the time limit.

Or you kick balls and presents into people’s faces.

There is actually a lot to do and you have a list of achievement’s that you can complete or you can just trash the place and be a general menace.

Here are to video’s I threw together.

The End of Games For Windows Live….. Or Prehaps Not

It had been widly reported that come the end of the 31st of june the much maligned and some would say hated games for windows live would become no more as microsoft were set to switch it off for good.

This would have left several games unplayable with out a patch not unlike the recent closure of gamespy.

However according to MCV this is not happening and microsoft themselfs saying that they are continuing to support the platform which is good for games that rely on it and didnt look like they would have had any chance of a patch.

It’s good news for the games that were in limbo and for the players that still play them.

The big question is what have Microsoft got planned for games for Windows live now? What do they have planned for the pc? Time will only tell.

New batch of lets play video’s

I have been pretty busy on the video front. I have several new videos on my youtube Channel

Check it out Here.

Main recent videos of not as far as I’m concerned are

Let’s Play World of Guns Tutorial Parts 1 and 2

World of guns is a game where you have a 3d model of a gun in this instance an ak47 and you can disassemble and reassemble it. The game part is pitting you against your friends and the world and challenges you to disassemble and reassemble in the fastest time possible while remembering which part goes where.

The 3d models seem very accurate and things like xray mode and split mode which allow you to fire the gun and see how it works make this game really interesting if your even remotely interested in guns or how they work.

Let’s Play Don’t Starve Day 7-8

The next part in my Don’t Starve let’s play series. I’m really enjoying this still have no idea what im doing as you maybe able to tell but at least im not dead yet.

Let’s Play Simraceway. Race!

I love racing games but it can be very difficult to play and record them. This is one of the two video’s that I have done playing the game Simraceway a really good Free to Play racing game on PC. For anyone interested I was using a Playstation 3 controller with MotionJoy to control the car. I can tell you it was a pain in the butt to get working but it is an ok way to control them if you don’t have a wheel. Unfortunately I didn’t count on the lag both network and fps.

There are a few more videos as well that I have uploaded Including a nice trailer for Project Cars [That game is looking amazing] And I have a load more coming soon. Check them out on my channel Here and  if you like what you see please do Subscribe

Unity And learning game development

I have had an interest in game development for years now often dabbling in to mod making or producing a few maps for games like command and conquer and unreal tournament. I have never really tried anything much more complicated as I have very very limited knowledge of coding. And the things that I have made I have never really felt as either complete enough or good enough to release and as you may be able to tell with how often I update this blog, I do have an issue keeping focused on just one thing at a time.

I have tried several different ideas for games and I have tried several different game engines. My most successful attempt was with YOYOgames Gamemaker Inspired somewhat by games such as Gunpoint. I managed to follow the tutorials and ended up with a end product that worked and that I was happy with. I have also tired to use unity several times and tired some of their own project tutorials and guilds but I have always ended up bouncing off it because I haven’t found the tutorials engaging enough. I keep coming back to unity because I like its flexibility in terms of the kind of games that can be produced and the sheer amount of platforms that unity supports with out to much fussing around.

I was browsing steam and came across a tutorial program for unity that was just happened to be under £2 so I  bought it. I normally rely on free tutorials because paid ones are normally very very expensive But I figured that at £2, if they were no good it would only be a small amount of money wasted. Fortunately they seem pretty good and you also get a few resources as well and although I am now only two and a half video’s in, I am enjoying it and the person that is talking you though it is not treating you like an idiot but also not expecting you to automatically know stuff. And the great thing is that because they are in video form you can see and hear what is going on and if you need to you can pause and go over things as many times as you need to.

The tutorial is called GTGD which stands for Gamer to Game Developer S1 and can be found on steam HERE

The version of unity used in the tutorial is a bit old (version 3.4) and the teacher is using windows XP but its not really a problem and apparently if you want to use the new version of unity (version 4.0) instead S2 of GTGD tells you what changes are required between the versions.

I am looking forward to continuing on and seeing what I end up with. I already have an .exe of the prototype that he guides you to build and I’ll upload it here. Its by no means anything special at this point in the tutorial but you cant help getting that feeling of accomplishment when it works.

I am going to try and post with prehaps a prototype after every stage maybe that will also help me keep focused 😛

Lets Play Car Mechanic Simulator 2014

This one is an unusual one.  I saw the game become available on steam the other day and wondered how on earth they could make a game about being a game mechanic.

Of course I really  shouldnt have been surprised considering how many of sim games are now available. I am one of those people that like sim games but have got used to them being pretty poor and pretty badly limited in what you are actually able to do.

I have to say that Car Mechanic Simulator 2014 actually seems pretty competent. As your’ll see in the video I played the first full mission but what you wont see is that I had got half way through the second mission before my computer crashed which isnt the games fault. From what i have played already the game is well made has great graphics and seems to cover alot of varing situations.  The game is stable and I had a good time with it. Check out my video and then find the game on steam.

I am hoping to upload further missions very soon. Also look out for further episodes of my Age of Empires videos.
