Update,News, Youtube and Minecraft

Its been a while since I last posted. It has been a busy few weeks the kids have gone back to school and I have had some drama with the car which fortunately is now working ok and has the MOT for the year. I still have manged for the most part to get videos up on my youtube channel and am keeping to my schedule of uploading something every Tuesday and Thursday. Despite an internet outage to two which meant that I was a little late on one or two of them.

I have also manged to do a few streams on twitch.tv  I stream when i can and when internet allows my latest uploads to YouTube are from a live steam that i did while playing lord of the rings online [lotro]  Part 1 Part 2 . There are more video’s on my channel and I would very much appreciate it if you would like and subscribe.

A few large pieces of news have happened since I last posted, Microsoft buying Minecraft is one. Personally on this I think that even and 2.5billion buying Mojang is a good deal for them however I do worry what it will mean for Minecraft especially on the Playstation format. I hope that Microsoft treat the community right and realise that having it on every platform known to man is a good thing.

As I type in the UK, Scotland are voting either yes or no to decide whether they want to stay part of the UK or if they want to go it alone. So far most of the polls have been very very close. I personally hope that Scotland stay as I do think that we are stronger together than we are apart. I am however getting fed up about all the coverage that there has been about it. As I live in England and am English I don’t get to have a say on the matter but its been all that has been talked about for the last few months. We should know by tomorrow morning either way.

I think that is all for now.

I would just like to thank my followers and subscribers and hope that you continue to enjoy my content.

A tax on all our plastic (bags)

So it finally seems that like the rest of the UK, England will be getting charged for the use of plastic bags from next year.

The queen in her speech at the opening of Parliament today said:

“The Government will introduce a 5p plastic bag charge in England from October 2015, which it hopes will cut the number of plastic bags used in the country.”

It’s not really that much of a surprise perhaps it’s actually a bigger surprise that it has taken this long seeing as how Wales, Scotland and Northern island have done it for a little while now.

Personally I think that it’s a good thing as plastic bags really are horrible for the environment and they are very difficult to recycle so many end up in landfill and others just end up flying around and when they end up in the environment  they cause issues for wildlife as well as just looking horrible hanging off tree’s and bushes or floating in rivers

The idea is that the money raised from this charge does not go back into profits but is donated to charity which means that it doesn’t feel like an extra tax which it so easily could have been.

It does only affect large retailers and smaller stores arent going to be affected which is good news for them. I would kinda hope that they would try to also discourage their use and I know some already do.

From what I have heard from people who life in Wales it does take a little while to get used to but the scheme does cut down on the amount of plastic bags around and it makes people think about using and reusing bags that they have or bags for life.

As I’m sure some of you are aware the uk has been it by rather a lot of snow. Well a lot for the uk anyway. Apparently its the coldest winter in 18 years.  I was only young 18 years ago and some would say I still am being only 23, but I can remember tramping off to school with my mum, the snow up to my knees and making it there only to find it closed.

I have no idea what was happening in the rest of the country at the time I guess that being a kid I was more concerned about building snowmen and not having to be at school.

This time around thought I can see all the fuss that is being made of the snow although that doesn’t mean I’m not still concerned about making snowmen because I am. As I write the snow is falling outside and we are running out of milk, the road is covered and I haven’t seen a car go down the street for at least an hour now. Saying that however the fuss everyone seems to be making rather amuses me.

The grit is running out and it seems that everyone is panicking about this. People seem to think its some sort of magic dust that destroys the evil  snow when really in this sort of weather it has really very little effect especially when snow is falling. for it to be most effective it needs traffic to mix it in which isn’t forthcoming as only the main roads are being done and no one can leave the towns and estates and with snow falling  it is its a rather a pointless effort.

I was supposed to be working yesterday but there was no way that I could safely get there and back again the buses that I rely on  did begin to run towards the afternoon but there was no way that I could guarantee that I would be able to get home especially with cold temperature and more snow on the way. and I really don’t want to be forced to have to stay the night at work.

Normally I would go out and take some photos but stupidly I have put my camera away while my room is decorated i may go out with my mobile later and see what i can grab so keep an eye on my flickr account which you can find HERE

Think I may update this particular blog throughout the day as I think of things to write so stay tuned

Well I didnt think of anything else to say althought the days isnt yet over but i did manage to get some photos using my mobile phone. They are on my flickr page take a look

Shake Rattle and Roll

Well i certainly just did and according to bbc radio 5 so did most of the uk.

At around 12.58 am an earthquake is something i have never experienced before. I wasn’t scared It was too quick for me to move on from what the hell is going on to arrrg we are all going to die.

It seems that the tremor lasted anywhere from a couple of seconds which is what I experienced to around 15 seconds and i have just herd that it hit 4.7 on the Richter scale 30 miles beneath south Kingston apon hull.

Also after shocks could be felt.

More later aka in the morning ¬_¬

The bbc has got an article up about it now Click Here

Well it appears that it actually hit 5.3 initil reports of this sort of thing are normally not 100% correct so im not surprised.

It is apparently the the strongest since the 5.4 quake in 1984 that hit north wales.
